Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor in Illinois, Scott Cohen, who founded Rod Must Resign to give corrupt Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich the boot last year, has “a rap sheet that includes alleged domestic battery and tax evasion.”
Oh, yeah, and Cohen is from Chicago, the city that perfected corruption and gave us Barack Obama.
Meanwhile, the party’s Senate nominee, state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, has come under scrutiny for the troubles that his family’s bank has been facing over its lending practices. If the Giannoulias family can’t personally provide enough funding to keep the bank solvent, federal regulators could force the family to sell control of the bank at some point during the campaign.
Giannoulias also has connections with Blagojevich, a mobster and Obama pal and criminal Tony Rezko.
Should be an interesting year for politics.
